SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap with Two-Way Entry Control

The SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap with Two-Way Entry Control gives you something most standard microchip cat flaps cannot – control over which individual cats can come in and which individual cats are allowed to go out.

This makes it particularly useful for homes with more than one cat. You may have one healthy, active cat that is allowed to come and go normally, while another cat needs to remain safely indoors because it is older, unwell, recovering or requires restricted outdoor access.

Instead of having to keep every cat indoors, the SureFlap allows you to set different access permissions for individual cats.

Control Your Cats Going In and Out

Most microchip cat flaps are purchased to solve one main problem: stopping neighbouring or unwanted cats from entering your home.

This SureFlap model goes considerably further because it can identify your registered cats when they use the flap in both directions.

This means you can control individual cats entering your home and, importantly, control which cats are permitted to go outside.

Keep One Cat Indoors Without Restricting the Others

This is where the SureFlap really stands out from a conventional microchip cat flap.

Many customers have more than one cat but need to keep just one of them indoors. For example, you might have:

  • An older cat that you no longer want wandering outside
  • An unwell cat that needs to remain indoors
  • A cat recovering from an operation or treatment
  • A new cat that has not yet been allowed outside
  • One indoor cat living with another cat that is allowed outdoors
  • Cats with completely different outdoor routines

With individual access control, your other cats can continue using the cat flap normally without giving the restricted cat the same freedom to leave.

A Simple Example

Imagine you have two cats.

Cat 1 is healthy and regularly goes outdoors. You can allow this cat to enter and leave through the cat flap normally.

Cat 2 is older or unwell and needs to remain indoors. You can allow this cat back into the house if required while restricting its ability to go outside again.

This individual control is the major reason to choose this model over a standard selective-entry microchip cat flap.

Microchip Controlled Entry

The cat flap uses your cat's compatible implanted identification microchip as its electronic key.

When a registered cat approaches the flap, its identity is recognised and the cat flap applies the access permissions you have programmed for that particular cat.

This means that in most cases there is no special collar or key for your cat to wear.

Helps Keep Neighbouring Cats Out

As well as controlling your own cats going outside, the SureFlap provides the security expected from a quality microchip cat flap.

Registered cats can be allowed into your home while the electronic locking system helps prevent neighbouring cats, strays and other unregistered animals from entering through the flap.

Ideal for Multi-Cat Households

The ability to give individual cats different permissions makes this model particularly suitable for multi-cat households.

  • Control individual cats entering and leaving
  • Allow one cat outside while keeping another indoors
  • Help prevent unwanted cats entering your home
  • Useful for elderly or unwell cats
  • Useful during recovery periods
  • Suitable where cats have different outdoor routines
  • No collar required when using a compatible implanted microchip

Stores Multiple Cats

The SureFlap can remember up to 32 registered pet identities, making it suitable for households with several cats.

Each registered cat can be recognised individually rather than treating every cat in the household in exactly the same way.

Suitable for Doors, Walls and Glass

The SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap can be installed into a wide variety of locations including:

  • Timber doors
  • Suitable uPVC door panels
  • Walls
  • Single glazing
  • New double-glazed sealed units
  • Suitable patio and glazed doors

Optional tunnel extensions and installation adaptors are available for wall and glass installations.

Wall Installation

The cat flap includes an integral tunnel approximately 70mm deep.

For thicker walls, additional 50mm tunnel extensions can be added to create a neat, fully lined passage through the wall.

This prevents your cat from passing directly over exposed brickwork, blockwork, insulation or rough masonry edges.

Installation into Double Glazing

The SureFlap can also be installed into a suitable new double-glazed sealed unit using the appropriate mounting adaptor.

Existing toughened glass cannot normally be cut after manufacture. For a double-glazed installation, a replacement sealed unit should be manufactured with the correct opening already incorporated into the glass.

Why Choose a Two-Way Microchip Cat Flap?

If your only requirement is to stop neighbouring cats entering your home, there are several excellent microchip cat flaps available.

The reason to choose this SureFlap model is different.

It is particularly useful when you have more than one cat and need to control the movements of each cat individually.

If one cat needs to stay indoors because it is older or unwell, you do not necessarily want to remove outdoor access from every other cat in the house. This flap gives you much greater control over those individual movements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I let one cat outside but keep another indoors?

Yes. This is one of the main advantages of this SureFlap cat flap. Individual cats can be given different access permissions, allowing one cat to go outside while another remains indoors.

Why would I need to control a cat going out?

A common reason is a multi-cat household where one cat is older, unwell or recovering and needs to remain indoors while the other cats are still allowed outside.

Will my indoor cat still be able to come back inside?

The cat flap's individual access settings allow different permissions to be assigned to registered cats. This provides much greater control than a standard cat flap where every cat is subject to the same access setting.

Will it stop other cats coming into my house?

Yes. The microchip-controlled locking system is designed to allow registered pets to enter while helping prevent unregistered neighbouring or stray cats from gaining access.

Does my cat have to wear a collar?

No. A compatible implanted microchip can normally be used to identify your cat without requiring a collar.

How many cats can be registered?

The cat flap can store up to 32 pet identities.

Can it be fitted into a wall?

Yes. The cat flap can be installed through a wall, with an additional 50mm tunnel extension available for thicker installations.

Can it be installed into double glazing?

Yes. It can be installed into a professionally manufactured replacement double-glazed unit using the appropriate mounting adaptor. The required opening must be incorporated during the manufacture of the new toughened glass unit.
